Pulpit Conference: Visitor Management at Nature-Based Destinations

Pulpit Conference: Visitor Management at Nature-Based Destinations

The pulpit conference on June 4, 2024 is ready for registration! The program is ready, and we look forward to many exciting lectures!

We have collected a number of relevant “cases” from Norway and invited both national and international capacities to shed light on the following issues:

Are we prepared to take the necessary steps to succeed with good visitor management at Norwegian nature-based travel destinations?

What must we do to maintain attractiveness, experience quality, reputation and value creation when traffic and visits to nature increase?

Do we have the necessary toolbox to practice sustainable visitor management, and do we need to consider legislative changes to handle increased visits?

Section 1: Financing of facilitation at nature-based travel destinations and limitations in legislation

Trond Flydal, Director of Legal Affairs at the Norwegian Environment Agency
Åse Marie Evjen from Trolltunga AS
Helge Kjellevold from Stiftelsen Preikestolen
Olve Norderhaug from Skistar / Trysil Bike Arena
Bente Lier, Secretary General of Norsk Friluftsliv
Ole Michael Bjørndal from NHO Reiseliv
Jan Gudmund Aanerud from law firm Holth & Winge

Section 2: The toolbox for visitor management and visitor administration at nature-based travel destinations

Professor and researcher Michael Hall from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand
Planning and business manager Matias Hana from Moskenes municipality (Reinebringen)
Preben Falck from Stavanger Tourist Association
Audun Pettersen from Virke Reiseliv

Finally, we will gather some of the speakers and other invited guests for a panel discussion on visitor contributions, visitor management and the toolbox for handling future nature-based tourism.
